The Runaway Princess Who Married in a Temple: Bhagyashree Revisits Her Bridal Look After 37 Years, Stuns in Both Saree and Jeans

Actress Bhagyashree, who became an overnight star with her debut film Maine Pyar Kiya opposite Salman Khan, has once again captured hearts by sharing throwback pictures from her wedding as she celebrated her 37th anniversary with husband Himalaya Dassani. The photographs not only revisited her traditional bridal avatar but also showcased her timeless sense of style—from classic sarees to chic denim looks.

Belonging to the royal Patwardhan family of Sangli, Maharashtra, Bhagyashree’s love story was nothing short of a fairytale with a rebellious twist. She fell in love with Himalaya Dassani during their high school days, but her family disapproved of the match. Despite repeated efforts to convince them, the couple eventually chose love over convention and eloped to get married at a temple.

A Royal Bride in Red

For her temple wedding, Bhagyashree embraced tradition in a stunning red silk saree adorned with golden zari work, paired with a plain red blouse. With mehndi on her hands, she looked every bit a Maharashtrian bride.

Her look was completed with a traditional Marathi nath (nose ring), kumkum on her forehead, a mang tikka, layered necklaces, and a high bun hairstyle. She kept her makeup in soft reddish tones that beautifully complemented her bridal ensemble. Himalaya, meanwhile, opted for a simple white kurta and a Jodhpuri-style turban, making their understated wedding ceremony appear both elegant and heartwarming.

Another Saree Look That Stole the Show

Bhagyashree also shared pictures of a second bridal look from the same period. In these, she is seen seated on ornate chairs with Himalaya, dressed in a pink-and-gold saree embellished with intricate golden threadwork and shimmering sequins.

She styled the saree with gold bangles, pink and red choodas, kumkum on her forehead, sindoor in her hair parting, a bodla head ornament, and the classic Marathi nath. Her graceful desi look was perfectly complemented by Himalaya, who wore a white shirt paired with a grey suit.

From Bridal Sarees to Stylish Jeans

Apart from her wedding looks, Bhagyashree also posted several throwback and recent photos that highlighted her evolving yet evergreen fashion sense. In one of the pictures, she is seen in a youthful denim look—wearing a colorful patterned sweater in blue, yellow, white, and purple, paired with white jeans and a scarf. Himalaya matched her casual vibe in a beige sweater, brown jacket, and baggy pants.

In another stylish appearance, Bhagyashree gave her desi outfit a modern twist with a one-shoulder short kurta and pants. The kurta featured an asymmetrical hemline and floral detailing around the neckline, accented with golden gota work. Himalaya complemented her contemporary ethnic look in an all-black suit.

Still Setting Couple Fashion Goals After 37 Years

Even after 37 years of marriage and becoming parents to two children, Bhagyashree and Himalaya continue to set couple fashion goals. In a more recent picture, Bhagyashree wore a red top paired with a long blue puffer jacket, black tights, and boots, while Himalaya twinned with her in a white and red puffer jacket over blue denim.

From a runaway temple wedding to decades of togetherness, Bhagyashree and Himalaya Dassani’s love story remains as inspiring as ever. Her bridal sarees may belong to another era, but her confidence, grace, and style—whether in traditional wear or jeans—prove that true elegance never goes out of fashion.
