Stay Warm and Energized This Winter with Homemade Desi Laddoos Rich in Protein and Calcium

Winter cravings often push us toward sweets like jalebi, gulab jamun, carrot halwa, or moong dal halwa. While tasty, these can increase sugar, cholesterol, and weight. A healthier and equally delicious alternative is homemade laddoos, packed with protein, calcium, and energy, perfect for keeping your body warm and strong during the cold season.

Why Homemade Laddoos Are Beneficial

According to nutritionist Shikha Agrawal Sharma, laddoos made from dry fruits, coconut, oats, sesame, and dates provide essential nutrients like protein, fiber, healthy fats, and energy. They not only satisfy sweet cravings but also support muscles, immunity, and overall vitality. These laddoos are free from refined sugar, making them a safe and nutritious option for people of all ages.

Three Winter Laddoo Recipes

1. Dry Fruit Laddoo
For nut lovers, this is a perfect protein-packed option. Ingredients include:

  • 50 grams mixed dry fruits and nuts (cashews, walnuts, almonds, pistachios, raisins, dried cranberries)
  • 10 dates, pitted
  • Optional: a little jaggery if needed

Preparation:
Lightly roast the dry fruits, let them cool, then grind coarsely. Blend with date paste and, if needed, a small amount of melted jaggery. Shape into small laddoos.

2. Coconut and Protein Laddoo
Rich in protein, this laddoo provides approximately 26 grams of protein per piece. Ingredients:

  • 20 ml milk
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • 1 scoop whey protein powder
  • 40 grams grated coconut

Preparation:
Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Adjust consistency with extra milk or protein powder as needed. Knead to a dough-like texture and shape into laddoos.

3. Oats and Sesame Laddoo
Packed with superfoods, this laddoo is high in protein and fiber. Ingredients:

  • Sesame seeds and flaxseeds, lightly roasted
  • Oats, roasted until golden
  • Jaggery powder, soft dates, and cardamom powder
  • Optional: black raisins and 4 tbsp lukewarm milk

Preparation:
Grind roasted seeds and oats coarsely. Blend with jaggery, dates, and cardamom. Mix in raisins and milk, knead, and shape into small laddoos.

These homemade laddoos are an easy, nutritious, and delicious way to stay energized and healthy during the harsh winter months.
