“One Wrong Habit in Men Can Reduce Chances of Fatherhood, Doctor Warns”

If you are unknowingly practicing a daily habit that could affect your fertility, it’s time to make a change. Gynecologist Dr. Samara Masood has warned men that this common mistake can significantly impact their chances of becoming a father.

While infertility is often linked to medical conditions, lifestyle habits can also play a major role, especially in men. Dr. Masood explains that one particular habit can affect sperm quality, reducing the likelihood of conception.

Tight Underwear: A Hidden Risk

According to Dr. Masood, wearing very tight underwear increases heat around the testicles, which can negatively affect sperm production. Even a temperature rise of 2–3°C can reduce spermatogenesis, lowering sperm count.

Impact on Sperm Quality

Excessive heat exposure can also alter sperm shape and motility, potentially causing DNA damage. Defective sperm may struggle to fertilize an egg, reducing the chances of successful pregnancy.

Reduced Oxygen and Nutrient Supply

Tight garments can restrict blood flow and limit oxygen and nutrient delivery to the testicles. Both are essential for healthy sperm formation. Continuous wearing of tight jeans, gym wear, or sitting with a laptop on the lap can further increase testicular heat, affecting fertility.

Expert Recommendations

Dr. Masood advises men to avoid:

  • Wearing tight underwear or skinny jeans for extended periods (4–6 hours or more)
  • Using laptops on the lap for long durations
  • Prolonged use of tight gym clothing

By adopting more relaxed clothing habits and reducing heat exposure, men can protect sperm quality and improve the chances of fatherhood.
