One Mistake Can Trigger a Heart Attack at the Gym: Fitness Coaches Reveal the Right Way to Work Out

Regular exercise, a healthy diet, and sweating it out at the gym may seem sufficient, but are you truly working out the right way? Recent years have seen a rise in heart attacks and serious injuries at gyms, raising questions about whether incorrect exercise techniques are putting people at risk.

In the Fitness @360 series, celebrity fitness coach Maruti Polekar sheds light on why such incidents occur. He warns that even some fitness trainers are unaware of proper workout methods, which can cause significant harm during exercise.

The Correct Approach to Working Out
Maruti trains both celebrities and ordinary clients, emphasizing that diet, exercise, and adequate sleep are crucial for fitness. However, there is no one-size-fits-all rule—workout routines must be tailored to individual body types. Celebrities like actors Romit Raj and Aniket Arora have benefited from his personalized approach, achieving visible results in six months.

Why Heart Attacks Happen at the Gym
The human body often sends warning signals before a heart attack. Ignoring pain in the chest, back, or calves can be dangerous. Early medical checkups can prevent serious complications.

Divide Your Workout into Three Stages
A safe workout includes three stages:

  1. Warm-up – Prepares muscles and joints, reducing the risk of injury. Light jogging, arm circles, and leg swings are recommended. Heavy exercises like push-ups or pull-ups should not be used as warm-ups, as they strain the body.
  2. Main Exercise – Focus on proper form rather than duration. Even 30 minutes of intensive, correctly executed exercises can yield excellent results.
  3. Stretching – Crucial for maintaining flexibility, preventing stiffness, and aiding recovery.

Fitness is More Than Exercise
A healthy lifestyle forms the foundation of fitness. According to Maruti, achieving fitness goals requires a balance of 50% diet, 25% sleep, and 25% exercise. When all three elements are in harmony, results come faster and more sustainably.
