Nita Ambani’s royal look at her sister-in-law’s son’s wedding has caught everyone’s attention. She dazzled in a beautiful saree adorned with gold and silver zari work, paired with diamond and emerald jewelry, exuding elegance and a queenly charm.
A Regal Saree Styled by Manish Malhotra
For the occasion, Nita Ambani selected a saree designed by renowned fashion designer Manish Malhotra, meticulously woven by skilled artisans from Banaras. The saree showcases the richness of Indian textiles with intricate work.
- Color: Orange base with purple border
- Fabric: Woven silk
- Work: Gold and silver zari, metal tilla sequins
How Gold and Silver Zari is Made
The gold or silver threads are created by plating copper with a thin layer of gold or silver. These strips are then wrapped around silk or cotton threads to make zari threads. The zari is woven into the saree, creating Mughal-style or floral motifs on the border and pallu.
Craftsmanship and Detailing
Manish Malhotra shared that the saree took over 60 days of meticulous work by artisans in Banaras. The saree features integrated zardozi, metal tilla sequins, and hand embroidery. The orange base is complemented by a purple border with delicate embroidery, while the pallu is heavily embellished with sequins and zari threads, giving a regal touch. Nita draped it neatly with pleats and a straight pallu for a clean, elegant look.
Heavily Embroidered Blouse
The matching blouse features heavy zari embroidery, with a round neck and half sleeves. The blouse incorporates a lattice pattern and floral motifs, with widened borders on the neckline and sleeves for emphasis.
Identifying Genuine Zari
- Weight: Real zari is heavier; fake zari feels stiff and light.
- Shine: Authentic zari has a soft, classic glow; fake zari appears overly bright.
- Thread quality: Genuine zari is smooth and strong, wrapped around silk/cotton threads.
- Durability: Real zari does not tarnish over time, whereas fake zari fades.
Royal Jewelry to Complete the Look
Nita Ambani completed her ensemble with two-layered diamond and emerald necklace, matching tear-drop earrings, maang tika, diamond bangles, rings, and a kamarband. Her hair accessories were elegant, perfectly complementing her royal attire. The overall effect was head-to-toe grandeur and sophistication, making Nita Ambani look stunning in her gold-and-silver saree.
