New Moms Should Include This Special Dish After Delivery to Boost Strength and Breast Milk

After delivery, it is essential for new mothers to maintain a balanced diet to regain strength and support breast milk production. Gynecologist Dr. Garima Singh recommends certain foods and fruits that can help mothers recover faster while improving digestion and energy levels.

The Must-Have Postpartum Dish
Dr. Singh advises that after a normal delivery, new mothers should include Gond (edible gum) in their diet, either in the form of laddoos or panjiri, which can be easily prepared at home with the help of a mother or mother-in-law. Gond is highly nutritious and provides energy, strengthens the body, and supports lactation.

In addition to Gond, mothers should include dairy products such as milk, paneer, or yogurt daily. Drinking water infused with fennel seeds, carom seeds (ajwain), or cumin can improve digestion and enhance milk production. While it is important to maintain a balanced diet with dal, roti, and vegetables as before, mothers should not rely solely on dal or porridge.

Avoid Excess Oil and Spices
Dr. Singh advises new mothers to reduce the intake of oil, chili, and spices, as these can affect energy levels while breastfeeding. Eating small, light, and nutritious meals every 2 hours can help maintain energy throughout the day.

Recommended Fruits and Dry Fruits
Fruits such as guava, papaya, and apple are beneficial for postpartum recovery. Dry fruits are also recommended to replenish essential nutrients. They can be soaked overnight and consumed as is, added to milk, or prepared into nutritious laddoos.
