Natural Mosquito Repellent: Keep Mosquitoes Away for Just ₹5 with This Simple DIY Trick

You no longer need coils or chemical sprays to protect your home from mosquitoes. YouTuber Bandhna Agrawal has shared an inexpensive, natural method using lemon, cloves, camphor, and neem oil to make a unique “lemon diya” that not only keeps mosquitoes away but also fills your home with a fresh, pleasant aroma.

Why This Method Works
Mosquitoes are usually more active in summer, but they can also be a nuisance during winters and rainy seasons. Using commercial sprays and coils frequently can affect health. Natural remedies, however, are safe and effective. The lemon-clove diya is a simple, chemical-free solution to keep mosquitoes at bay while acting as a natural room freshener.

Ingredients You Will Need:

  • 1 large lemon
  • 2 whole cloves
  • A small piece of camphor
  • Neem oil (optional but highly effective)

How to Make the Lemon Diya:

  1. Cut off a small portion from the top of a large lemon.
  2. Carefully scoop out the pulp using a spoon, leaving a hollow shell.
  3. Place 2 whole cloves and a small piece of camphor inside the hollow lemon.
  4. Insert a long cotton wick into the mixture.
  5. For stronger effect, sprinkle a little extra powdered camphor and cloves on top.

Using the Diya:
Light the wick, and as the camphor and clove powder come in contact with the heat, they produce aromatic smoke that repels mosquitoes from all corners of the house. Adding neem oil enhances the effect as it contains “Azadirachtin,” one of the most powerful natural mosquito repellents.

Benefits:

  • Completely natural with no harmful chemicals, safe for children and elderly.
  • Fresh citrus and clove aroma reduces mental stress and creates a positive home environment.
  • Costs only ₹2–5 to prepare.
  • Also repels small flies and other insects.

This simple, affordable DIY method provides a safe and effective solution to keep your home mosquito-free naturally.
