Mild Fever for Two Days Can Turn Dangerous: 4 Symptoms Not to Ignore with Fever

New Delhi: Fever is a common health issue, but in some cases, it can signal a serious medical condition. Experts warn that if fever escalates quickly, it should not be ignored. Dr. Zubair Ahmed highlights four critical symptoms that require immediate medical attention alongside fever.

Case Example
A mild fever may often be overlooked, especially during seasonal changes or viral infections such as typhoid. However, Dr. Zubair Ahmed shared a case where a patient experienced mild fever for two days, and by the third day, vital organ function began to decline.

When Fever Becomes Dangerous
A mild fever can sometimes mark the early stage of a severe infection. If the infection reaches the bloodstream, it can lead to sepsis, a life-threatening condition where the body’s immune response starts damaging vital organs such as the kidneys, lungs, brain, and heart.

Why Sepsis Is Risky
Sepsis can become critical within hours. Early symptoms like mild fever, fatigue, and body pain are often ignored, but delaying treatment can result in organ failure and shock.

Ayurvedic Perspective
According to Ayurveda, rapidly progressing fever is referred to as Jwar, which occurs when digestive fire (Agni) weakens and toxins (Ama) accumulate. These toxins spread through the blood and can affect multiple organs simultaneously, resembling the systemic inflammatory response described in modern medicine.

Warning Signs That Require Immediate Medical Attention
Dr. Ahmed advises that if fever is accompanied by any of the following signs, one should rush to the hospital without relying on home remedies:

  1. Confusion or loss of consciousness
  2. Severe weakness or extreme fatigue
  3. Low urine output
  4. Rapid breathing, low blood pressure, or cold, clammy skin

Treatment
In such emergency situations, modern critical care involves fluids, antibiotics, oxygen therapy, and constant monitoring. Ayurveda may play a supportive role in boosting immunity and aiding recovery.

Important Note
Not all fevers are dangerous, but if the condition worsens rapidly, immediate medical consultation is crucial.
