The iconic “Creel House,” known to fans as Vecna’s House from Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things, isn’t just a set. It is a real, 140-year-old historic mansion located in Rome, Georgia. While the show portrays it as eerie and dilapidated, the house is actually renowned for its grandeur and unique architectural features.

A Historic Victorian Marvel
Vecna’s House, built around 1882 by Colonel Hamilton Yancey, is over 140 years old and situated in the East Rome Historic District. Its design is classic Victorian, following the Second Empire style. The signature mansard roof gives it a stately appearance from afar. Spanning approximately 6,000 square feet, the property also includes a separate guest house. Inside, large chandeliers, Queen Anne-style furniture, and gold-framed paintings amplify its majestic charm.

More Than Just a Scary House
Despite its eerie portrayal on the show, the mansion’s previous owners preserved its historic elements while maintaining modern touches. Original features like intricately carved built-in bookshelves, exquisite woodwork, and a classic fireplace are still intact.
