During the peak of winter, putting your hands in cold water for cleaning can be a daunting task. Mopping the floor often becomes the most challenging household chore, leaving hands numb and making one worry about falling sick. However, with a few clever techniques and modern tools, you can keep your home spotless without ever touching water.
1. Spin Mop
Spin mops, which come with a bucket, are extremely handy. They feature a built-in spinning mechanism that allows you to wash and wring out the mop inside the bucket itself. No hands are needed—just use the foot pedal or handle to apply pressure, and your mop is ready to clean.
2. Spray Mop
For those who want to avoid carrying buckets, a spray mop is an excellent choice. It has a small water bottle attached near the handle. Fill it with water and cleaner, and as you move, press a button to spray the solution on the floor. No need to repeatedly change water or wring out the mop.
3. Old Wiper Hack
If you don’t want to buy a new mop, you can repurpose an old floor wiper. Wrap a large cotton cloth or old towel around the wiper, secure it with clips, and soak it in warm water. You can now mop while standing, without bending or getting your hands wet.
4. Microfiber Flat Mop
Microfiber flat mop pads absorb dirt quickly. Keep 4–5 pads soaked in warm water before cleaning. When one pad gets dirty, replace it with a fresh one using your foot, keeping your hands completely dry. Later, wash all dirty pads together in a washing machine.
5. Kitchen Tongs Trick
A simple home hack involves using kitchen tongs. Hold the mop cloth with the tongs, dip it in warm water, and wring it out using the tongs. This prevents any contact with water while completing the task efficiently.
With these five techniques, winter cleaning becomes much easier, keeping your hands warm and dry while ensuring a spotless home.
