Get Rid of Premature Greying Naturally: Make a Free Homemade Hair Dye Using Onion Peels — Even Chemical Products Can’t Compete

Growing white hair at a young age can be embarrassing and often affects confidence. Many people rely on expensive chemical-based dyes and salon treatments to cover their greying hair, but the results are temporary — and harsh chemicals can damage the scalp over time.
However, you can make a highly effective natural hair dye at home for free using a common kitchen waste item: onion peels.

Why Onion Peels?

Onion peels contain sulphur, vitamins A, C, and E, and phosphorus, which help strengthen hair, boost natural pigmentation, and reduce breakage. When prepared correctly, this homemade dye turns grey hair darker naturally, without causing damage.

How to Make Natural Hair Dye Using Onion Peels

Ingredients Required

  • Onion peels
  • Coffee powder
  • Coconut oil
  • Vitamin E capsules
  • Tea water
  • Iron pan (very important)

Step-by-Step Preparation Method

  1. Heat the iron pan properly.
  2. Add onion peels and roast them until they turn completely black.
  3. Let them cool, then grind them into a fine powder.
  4. Mix this powder with coffee powder.
  5. Add coconut oil and the oil from Vitamin E capsules.
  6. Transfer this mixture back into the iron pan and leave it overnight.
  7. Before application, add boiled tea water to the mixture and let it cool.

How to Apply This Natural Hair Dye

  1. Wash your hair well before applying — make sure there is no oil or dirt.
  2. Detangle your hair using a comb.
  3. Apply the dye from roots to tips using a brush or your fingers.
  4. Leave it on for 30 minutes.
  5. Rinse with plain water (no shampoo).

How Often Should You Use It?

For best results and noticeable reduction in grey hair:

  • Use twice a week,
  • Minimum four times a month.

Regular use helps darken white hair naturally and improves overall hair health.

Important Precautions

  • Do not shampoo for at least 48 hours after applying the dye.
  • If you experience itching, burning, or irritation — stop using it immediately.
  • Individuals with scalp infections should consult a specialist before use.
