Get Bigger, Blooming Jasmine Flowers All Year: Gardener Shares Easy Tips

If you want your jasmine (mogra) plant to bloom abundantly throughout the year, preparing the soil and providing proper nutrition is essential. During winters, jasmine plants often slow down, their leaves yellow, and flowering decreases. However, with a few simple steps, you can keep your plant healthy and ensure larger, denser flowers even in the cold season.

Keep Roots Active

As seasons change, plant roots often become less active. Start by loosening the soil in your pot to improve aeration. Take a fresh aloe vera leaf, cut it into small pieces, and mix them into the soil. Aloe vera acts as a natural bio-stimulant, providing enzymes and hormones that keep roots active, preventing the plant from going dormant, and ensuring it continues to absorb nutrients efficiently.

Balance Sunlight and Water

Place your jasmine plant in a spot with adequate sunlight. Lack of sunlight can cause yellow leaves and smaller flowers. Overwatering is another common problem—water the plant only when the top 1–1.5 inches of soil is dry. Excess water can rot the roots, potentially ruining the entire plant.

Three “Magic” Powders for Healthy Flowers

To encourage larger, healthy flowers, gardeners recommend using three natural powders:

  1. Ash phosphate – strengthens the roots
  2. Banana peel powder – provides potassium for bigger blooms and vibrant color
  3. Vermicompost or well-rotted cow dung – enriches the soil with nutrients

How to Apply

  1. After loosening the soil, sprinkle one teaspoon of ash phosphate evenly around the pot.
  2. Add one teaspoon of banana peel powder, mixing both lightly into the soil to stimulate flower buds and growth.
  3. Finally, spread two handfuls of vermicompost or cow dung on the soil surface and mix gently, taking care not to let it spill out of the pot. Water the plant thoroughly after application.

Gardener’s Tips for a Thriving Jasmine

Following these steps will help your jasmine plant remain lush, green, and flowering even during winter months. Proper soil preparation, balanced sunlight, careful watering, and the right nutrients can transform your jasmine into a blooming showstopper year-round.
