Every gardening enthusiast dreams of seeing their rose plants lush, green, and blooming with flowers. Expert gardener Gaurav Srivastava has shared a potent organic fertilizer that can be prepared in just 24 hours, using everyday kitchen and garden ingredients. This natural concoction not only accelerates growth but also keeps rose plants healthy and vibrant.
With winter and spring seasons, rose plants require extra nutrition. Instead of relying on chemical fertilizers, gardeners are now turning to homemade organic solutions to provide essential nutrients naturally.
Ingredients That Work Wonders
According to Gaurav Srivastava, the powerful mixture strengthens the roots and promotes new buds. Mustard cake provides a rich source of nitrogen, onion peels supply potassium and iron, and baking soda adds anti-fungal properties, keeping the plant protected from common diseases.
Step 1: Preparing the Base
Start by taking a clean plastic or glass container and pour in approximately 850 ml of water at room temperature—neither too hot nor too cold, which is ideal for fermentation.
Step 2: Add Mustard Cake
Mix in 150 ml of mustard cake solution. Known as a superfood for plants, mustard cake is rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. It helps stimulate stalled growth and strengthens the stems.
Step 3: Include Onion Peels
Add a handful of onion peels, which release potassium and iron slowly into the mixture. These nutrients enhance flower color, increase petal size, and improve overall plant health.
Step 4: Mix in Baking Soda
Add ¼ teaspoon of baking soda to the mixture. It acts as a natural anti-fungal agent, balances soil pH, and protects rose plants from fungal infections and pests.
Step 5: Ferment for 24 Hours
Cover the container and leave it in a shaded area for 24 hours. During this time, all ingredients combine to create a nutrient-rich extract. Fermentation helps nutrients become readily available to plant roots.
Step 6: Dilution and Application
After 24 hours, the solution will change color. Do not apply it directly to the plants. Dilute the concentrate with 1.5 to 2 times plain water. Lightly loosen the soil around the rose plant’s roots and pour the diluted solution evenly around the base. This ensures deep absorption and promotes healthy, rapid growth.
With this simple, 24-hour organic fertilizer, rose enthusiasts can enjoy lush, blooming plants without relying on chemical products, while nourishing the soil naturally.
