In the quest for glowing skin, many people spend heavily on expensive skincare products and cosmetic treatments. However, despite repeated use, these products often fail to deliver the desired results. According to health experts, the reason may lie not on the skin’s surface, but inside the body.
Dermatologist and nutrition expert Dr Javeria Atif, in a recent social media post, emphasized that internal nourishment through diet is just as important as external skincare. She suggests that incorporating certain traditional, easily available Indian foods into the daily diet can naturally enhance skin tone and bring a healthy pink glow to the face—without chemicals or high costs.
1. Oranges: Boost Collagen Naturally
Oranges are rich in vitamin C, a key nutrient that promotes collagen production in the skin. Collagen helps maintain skin elasticity and youthfulness. Regular consumption of oranges can help reduce dark spots and give the skin a naturally rosy and radiant appearance.
2. Beetroot: Improves Blood Circulation
Beetroot is known for improving blood circulation, ensuring that oxygen and nutrients reach skin cells efficiently. Better circulation results in a natural flush on the face. Beetroot also helps detoxify the body, leaving the skin clearer and brighter from within.
3. Carrots: Protection Against Ageing
Carrots contain high levels of beta-carotene and vitamin A, which protect the skin from harmful sun rays and slow down signs of ageing such as wrinkles and fine lines. Regular intake improves overall skin texture and tone.
4. Spinach: Repairs Skin Cells
Spinach is packed with antioxidants, iron, and vitamin E, which help repair damaged skin cells and reduce inflammation. It also aids in minimizing dark circles and keeps the skin well-hydrated, giving it a fresh and healthy look.
5. Sweet Potato: Natural Moisturizer
Sweet potatoes help keep the skin naturally moisturized. The vitamins present in them prevent dryness, improve softness, and reduce early signs of ageing. They are considered a powerful superfood for maintaining smooth and glowing skin.
The Right Way to Eat
Dr Atif advises that eating at least one of these foods daily, in fresh and minimally processed form, is sufficient to see visible improvement over time. Consistency, hydration, and a balanced diet play a crucial role in achieving long-lasting skin health.
Experts stress that while skincare products can help, true glow begins with nutrition. Simple dietary changes using traditional foods may be the most effective and affordable solution for naturally radiant skin.
