Bollywood actress Hema Malini, widow of legendary actor Dharmendra, recently shared in an emotional interview how deeply she misses her late husband. It has been three months since the passing of the iconic “He-Man” of Bollywood, who breathed his last on 24 November 2025, leaving behind a grieving family. While his first wife, Prakash Kaur, has maintained her privacy, Hema Malini has openly expressed her grief and longing for the superstar.
Speaking to Variety India, Hema Malini described the tribute paid to Dharmendra at the BAFTA Awards as “heart-touching.” She recalled their busy schedules during their prime years, explaining that signing multiple films together allowed them to spend precious time with each other amid hectic shooting calendars.
“I miss him every moment,” Hema Malini said. “I keep asking myself: Did he really leave us? When will I see him again?” The couple had tied the knot in 1980 after Hema converted to Islam. They shared two daughters, Ahana and Esha, while Dharmendra was already a father to four children from his first marriage. Despite the complexities, Hema Malini embraced a new journey with him.
When asked about watching Dharmendra’s films posthumously, Hema revealed that Chupke Chupke remains her favorite, though Sholay holds a special place in her heart for the memories they shared during its shooting. She admitted that she hasn’t yet seen all of his films but plans to do so when time permits.
Regarding the prayer meetings held after Dharmendra’s demise, Hema Malini organized private sessions in Mumbai, Delhi, and Mathura, while son Sunny Deol hosted one at his residence in Mumbai. When asked about the separate events, she told eTimes, “It was a personal decision. We discussed and agreed upon it among ourselves.”
Hema Malini’s candid reflections reveal the deep void left by Dharmendra’s passing and her enduring love and connection with the Bollywood icon.
