Couple Struggled to Conceive for 3 Years, Doctors Couldn’t Find the Cause Until One Test Revealed a Major Secret

New Delhi: For couples trying to conceive, sometimes the most unexpected health issues can become the biggest hurdle. A recent case shared by fertility expert Dr. Mahima highlights how a seemingly minor problem can significantly impact pregnancy chances.

A 29-year-old couple, married for four years, had been attempting pregnancy for three years without success. Despite consulting multiple doctors and undergoing several fertility treatments, including three unsuccessful IUI cycles, the couple remained unable to conceive.

Reports Were Normal, But Success Eluded Them
Dr. Mahima explains that initial tests for both partners were normal. The wife’s ovulation was regular, her fallopian tubes were clear, and the husband’s semen analysis showed no abnormalities. Yet, conception remained elusive. Many doctors had labeled the case as “unexplained infertility”, providing only tablets or hormonal injections without further investigation.

The Hidden Cause Revealed
During a detailed pelvic examination, Dr. Mahima discovered that the woman was suffering from a chronic vaginal infection, a condition that had gone undiagnosed by previous physicians. While the infection often doesn’t appear in routine fertility tests, it can affect vaginal bacteria and cervical mucus, reducing the chances of conception.

The issue came to light when Dr. Mahima asked the patient about pain during intercourse. Initially hesitant, the woman admitted to experiencing severe burning and discomfort, which she had assumed was normal and never mentioned before.

Treatment and Hope
Once diagnosed, treatment for the chronic infection was initiated. Addressing such underlying conditions can significantly improve fertility outcomes, emphasizing the importance of thorough examinations and not overlooking subtle symptoms.

Dr. Mahima advises women not to dismiss persistent discomfort or unusual symptoms and to seek proper medical evaluation, as early diagnosis can make a critical difference in fertility and overall reproductive health.
