Clean Your Greasy Kitchen Chimney in Just 10 Minutes for ₹6: Poonam Dewanani Shares Easy Method

If your kitchen chimney is heavily soiled and the filters aren’t working properly, YouTuber Poonam Dewanani has shared an easy and cost-effective solution that can clean your filters in just 10 minutes—spending only ₹6.

When chimney filters are coated with thick layers of oil, cleaning them with dish soap or detergent becomes almost impossible. Many people spend hours scrubbing, yet the sticky residue remains. Now, a simple and inexpensive solution is available.

Dewanani recommends using a white powder, commonly available at local stores, to clean the filters effectively. While this method is slightly old, its results are impressive. Even with the slight rise in the cost of caustic soda today, it remains highly affordable.

Step 1: Remove the Filter and Prepare Hot Water
Carefully take out the chimney filter. Use a large tub or container where the filter can be fully submerged. Add enough water to cover it and heat the water until it is near boiling. Using hot water helps loosen the grease effectively.

Step 2: Prepare Caustic Soda Solution
Caustic soda is a powerful chemical and must be handled with care. Keep children away during the cleaning process. Avoid direct contact with skin, as it can cause burns. Always wear rubber gloves and a mask to protect from its strong fumes.

Step 3: Soak and Flip the Filter
Place the filter into the hot caustic soda solution. There is no need to scrub. Let it soak for 10 minutes. After 5 minutes, use tongs to flip the filter so that the top and bottom sides switch. You will notice black grease and dirt floating to the water’s surface.

Step 4: Final Cleaning and Rinse
After 10 minutes, the filters will be completely clean. Remove them using tongs. If any slight grease remains, gently scrub it with an old toothbrush or scrubber. Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove all traces of caustic soda.

Step 5: Dry and Reinstall
Stand the cleaned filters upright to drain excess water and let them dry completely. Filters should be completely dry before reinstalling to avoid rust or electrical hazards. Once dry, place them back in the chimney.

This simple and affordable method promises sparkling clean chimney filters in just 10 minutes, saving both effort and money.
