In a display of unprecedented craftsmanship, Ambani’s new daughter-in-law stunned everyone by wearing a bridal lehenga made entirely without traditional fabric. The unique piece, reportedly worth around ₹1 crore, draws inspiration from Mughal-era embroidery techniques and took 15,000 hours to complete.
A Lehenga Like No Other
Unlike conventional bridal wear made from silk, cotton, or other fabrics, this lehenga was crafted entirely from metal threads, showcasing the intricate artistry of Kasab embroidery. Traditionally used for royal garments and court attire, Kasab involves weaving fine gold or silver threads into delicate patterns by hand, creating a 3D effect with motifs inspired by Mughal heritage, including floral, paisley, and lattice designs.
The Making: 15,000 Hours of Precision
Designer duo Monica and Karishma Shah of Jade meticulously handcrafted the lehenga, incorporating 7–8 interlacing techniques per floral motif. Swarovski crystals, peacock motifs, and teal accents add a royal touch, making the lehenga more akin to wearable jewelry than traditional attire.
Unique Choli Design
The choli was equally special, created using macrame engineering, where threads are knotted to form structure instead of traditional weaving. The deep-neck blouse featured pearl tassels on the sleeves, enhancing its elegance, while the tight knots ensured strength and shape retention.
Dupatta and Veil Details
Even the dupatta was custom-made with rose-gold “hawa jali” mesh, perfectly complementing the pastel shades of the lehenga and the shimmer of Swarovski crystals. Its cutwork border and hanging pearl tassels added a luxurious dimension, while the veil incorporated floral patterns and motifs that harmonized with the overall ensemble.
Jewelry Adds Royal Charm
To complete the bridal look, the bride wore stunning diamond, ruby, and pearl jewelry. A ruby-pendant diamond choker was layered with a diamond necklace, paired with maang tika, jhumkas, nose ring, rings, and matching bangles. Subtle makeup and a maroon bindi added the final touch to this regal appearance.
A Modern Royalty Statement
This lehenga not only revives a centuries-old Mughal technique but also establishes a modern benchmark for bridal couture, blending heritage craftsmanship with contemporary design. With this extraordinary outfit, Ambani’s new bride has set a new standard for luxury weddings in India.
