In the photoshoot, Queen Radhikaraje wore a 150-year-old heritage Naqqashi Parsi saree from the Indian label Ashdeen. The blue saree featured intricate hand embroidery with floral motifs and a white-thread border on the pleats and pallu, creating a balanced and royal drape. The saree, priced at ₹1,50,000 on the Ashdeen website, beautifully combined history and luxury.
Her daughters, Princess Padmajaraje and Princess Narayaniraje Gaekwad, complemented her look with traditional Indian skirts and tops from the same label, creating a cohesive desi family ensemble.
Modern Touch with the Blouse
While the saree retained its historic charm, the queen paired it with an organza sheer white blouse featuring a simple round neckline and balloon-style full sleeves with pleated cuffs. This subtle modern twist enhanced the overall elegance of her look.
Heritage and Craftsmanship of the Garaa Saree
The Garaa saree, historically worn by Parsi women, has now become a luxury handloom icon. Dating back to the 19th century, it originated when Gujarati traders brought Chinese silk from their tea imports, which was then combined with Indian embroidery to create this exquisite fabric. Authentic Garaa sarees are hand-embroidered, can take 6 months to a year to complete, and are made of high-quality silk.
Jewelry Completes the Royal Look
Queen Radhikaraje complemented her attire with layered pearl necklaces, matching bangles, rings, and stud earrings. Soft curls and a classic black bindi added the finishing touch to her royal presence.
Princess Daughters Shine in Desi Glamour
Princess Padmajaraje looked stunning in a purple lehenga with colorful prints and a golden sleeveless top, accessorized with a bindi, bangles, and pendant necklace. Princess Narayaniraje wore a pink skirt with white lace and a floral-patterned sleeveless top, completing the look with pearls and open hair styling.
The photoshoot beautifully showcased how Queen Radhikaraje and her daughters blend heritage, elegance, and modern desi style effortlessly—proving that royal fashion remains timeless.
