Mumbai: Fans are eager to know what Ranveer Singh’s next film will be after the megahit ‘Dhurandhar 2’, scheduled for release on 19 March. Reports suggest that the actor is in talks with acclaimed filmmaker Shankar, known for hits like ‘Nayak’ and ‘2.0’. If everything falls into place, Ranveer will play the lead role in Shankar’s upcoming pan-India project, ‘Vel Pari’, alongside Tamil superstar Vikram.
‘Dhurandhar’ Sets a New Benchmark
Directed by Aditya Dhar, ‘Dhurandhar’ not only redefined box office success but also elevated Ranveer Singh’s career to new heights. Earlier, Ranveer reportedly opted out of Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don 3’, leaving fans curious about his next big venture. The buzz around ‘Vel Pari’ has now generated widespread excitement among audiences.
Talks Between Ranveer Singh and Shankar
According to a Mid-Day report, discussions between Ranveer and Shankar are ongoing. While no official announcement has been made, the project is said to be a two-hero film, with Tamil cinema star Vikram potentially sharing the screen with Ranveer.
Previous Collaboration Talks in 2021
This is not the first time Ranveer Singh’s name has been linked with Shankar. Back in 2021, the duo were reportedly in talks for a film titled ‘Anyan’. That project never materialized, leaving fans disappointed. If ‘Vel Pari’ moves forward, it will mark a major pan-India collaboration for Ranveer.
Based on S. Venkatesan’s Historical Novel
‘Vel Pari’ is adapted from Tamil historical fiction writer S. Venkatesan’s novel ‘Veera Yuga Nayagan Vel Pari’. The story revolves around Vel Pari, a great tribal chieftain from ancient Tamilakam during the Sangam period (around 3rd century BCE). Known as one of the “last seven great patrons” in Tamil literature, Vel Pari is celebrated for his generosity, patronage of arts, and resistance against the powerful Chera, Chola, and Pandya kingdoms. His kingdom encompassed regions of modern-day Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
