Veteran Screenwriter Salim Khan Admitted to ICU; Salman Khan, Ayush Sharma Visit

Legendary screenwriter and Bollywood icon Salim Khan, father of superstar Salman Khan, has been admitted to Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai, and is currently in the ICU. The family has been visiting him throughout the day, including Salman Khan, son-in-law Atul Agnihotri, and actor Ayush Sharma.

Hospitalization and Current Condition

Salim Khan was admitted on the morning of Tuesday, 17 February 2026. While the exact reason for hospitalization has not been disclosed, sources confirm that he is under medical supervision in the ICU. Family members have been seen at the hospital, with Salman Khan and Ayush Sharma leaving later in the afternoon after checking on him.

Iconic Career in Bollywood

Born in Indore, Salim Khan is one half of the legendary writing duo Salim–Javed. He has penned stories for blockbuster films such as ‘Zanjeer’, ‘Sholay’, and ‘Don’, shaping the golden era of Hindi cinema. Salim Khan recently celebrated his 90th birthday on 24 November 2025. Known for his storytelling and character development, he collaborated with Javed Akhtar, who primarily focused on dialogues and screenwriting, forming one of Bollywood’s most successful creative partnerships.

Family

Salim Khan has five children from two marriages. His first marriage was with Sushila Charak (also known as Salma Khan), and the second with Helen Richardson Khan. He is the father of Bollywood stars Salman Khan, Sohel Khan, and Arbaaz Khan, and daughters Alvira Khan Agnihotri and Arpita Khan Sharma. His family is known for being closely knit and a model example in the film industry.
