The box office is gearing up for a clash of two major releases on March 19: Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 and Yash-starrer Toxic. However, ahead of the release, Toxic has already disrupted the game for Dhurandhar 2 in the Telugu-speaking states.
Dhurandhar’s Record-Breaking First Installment
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the first Dhurandhar was a Hindi-only release that amassed over ₹1,300 crore worldwide in just two months, breaking multiple box office records. The makers were thrilled with its success but also felt a pang of regret that the film hadn’t fully capitalized on the Pan-India market—a gap Dhurandhar 2 now aims to fill. The sequel, titled Dhurandhar: The Revenge, will release in five languages, setting up a major clash with Yash’s Toxic.
Toxic Secures PVRINOX Partnership
Reports confirm that Toxic, produced by KVN Productions, has tied up with PVRINOX Pictures, the country’s largest multiplex chain, for distribution in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. This means that in these key Telugu states, Toxic will have priority over Dhurandhar 2, potentially reducing the number of screenings for Ranveer Singh’s film.
Impact on Dhurandhar 2
While Dhurandhar 2 will still screen across India, the deal gives Toxic an edge in the crucial Andhra and Nizam circuits—areas with a high concentration of Hindi-speaking audiences, where the first Dhurandhar earned ₹50 crore in just three weeks. The reduction in prime-time shows for Dhurandhar 2 could affect its box office collections in these territories, giving Toxic a significant advantage.
The PVRINOX deal reportedly involved an advance commission of ₹40 crore, ensuring that the film gets strategic coverage across smaller regions and select areas, in addition to the Telugu states. While Dhurandhar previously earned record revenue through this multiplex chain, the sequel may now face stiffer competition.

Released on December 5, 2025, with a budget of approximately ₹280 crore, Dhurandhar achieved a ₹28 crore opening day and maintained double-digit earnings in Hindi for over a month—an unprecedented feat for a single-language Indian film. Despite its availability on OTT platforms, the film continues to perform strongly in theaters, even in its ninth week.
With Toxic securing prime slots in PVRINOX multiplexes, the battle for box office supremacy in March is set to be intense, especially in the Telugu states.
