Title of ‘Lahore 1947’ May Be Changed Before Release, Says Sunny Deol

Mumbai, February 14, 2026:Bollywood star Sunny Deol has hinted at a possible title change for his upcoming period drama ‘Lahore 1947’ ahead of its release. The film, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced under Aamir Khan Productions, is scheduled to hit theaters on August 13, 2026.

Speaking to ANI, Sunny Deol said, “Among my upcoming films is ‘Lahore 1947’… the title may be changed before release, or it may remain the same. The movie is based on a famous play, and we aim to release it in cinemas around August 15.”

The film draws inspiration from the play ‘Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai’, written by playwright and professor Asghar Wajahat, which tells the story of a Muslim family traveling from Lucknow to Lahore during the Partition of India.

The project has generated considerable excitement among fans. The late legendary actor Dharmendra reportedly counted the script among his favorites, and the production team aims to bring the gripping narrative to life with a stellar cast including Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta, and Karan Deol, along with music by A.R. Rahman and lyrics by Javed Akhtar.

With the Independence Day weekend release, ‘Lahore 1947’ is set to clash at the box office with Salman Khan’s ‘Battle of Galwan’, raising anticipation for a cinematic showdown, though official confirmation of the scheduling is still awaited.
