The Raja Saab Cast Fees: Prabhas’ Film Crosses ₹100 Crore on Day One, Director’s Pay Seems Modest in Comparison

Pan-India star Prabhas’s latest release, “The Raja Saab,” has made a record-breaking collection of over ₹100 crore worldwide on its opening day. Despite the massive box office numbers, critics have expressed disappointment with the film’s story and execution. With a reported budget of ₹400–450 crore, the spotlight is now on the fees paid to the cast and crew.

Box Office Performance

Directed by Maruti, The Raja Saab was eagerly awaited and released with paid screenings this Thursday. While the film has set a high benchmark for 2026 releases with its opening day earnings of ₹100.90 crore worldwide (as reported by Sacnilk), critics left theaters underwhelmed. Questions have been raised not only about the storyline, but also regarding Prabhas’ choice of films and the heavy VFX and direction that overshadow the cast’s performances.

Storyline

The film follows Raju aka Raja Saab (Prabhas), who lives in a village with his grandmother Ganga Ma (Zarina Wahab). He learns that his grandfather Kankaraju (Sanjay Dutt), who once went in search of a thief, is supposedly alive in Hyderabad. On reaching there, Raju uncovers shocking truths about his grandmother’s past as a princess of the Devanagar Empire. The narrative takes him through dense forests and a haunted mansion, unraveling family secrets. While the story has failed to fully engage audiences, the star-studded cast and opening day earnings have generated excitement among fans.

Cast Fees

According to reports:

  • Prabhas: ₹100 crore for The Raja Saab. Although rumored to command ₹150 crore per film, he reportedly took a pay cut for this horror-comedy.
  • Sanjay Dutt: ₹5 crore for the role of Kankaraju, lower than his ₹8–10 crore fee for Dhurandhar.
  • Boman Irani: ₹1 crore for a key role.
  • Malavika Mohanan: ₹2 crore for a leading role.
  • Nidhi Agarwal: ₹1.5 crore.
  • Riddhi Kumar: ₹1 crore.

Director’s Fee

Director Maruti, who worked on the film for three years, was reportedly paid ₹18 crore, highlighting that Prabhas’ pay was significantly higher than the director’s remuneration.

Prabhas’ Upcoming Projects

Looking ahead, Prabhas will star in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s police action drama “Spirit”, portraying a hot-headed police officer taking on an international crime syndicate. Tripti Dimri plays his wife, with Vivek Oberoi and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles.
