Mumbai: Veteran actress Tabu recently grabbed attention on social media after she posed with Fatima Sana Shaikh during the screening of the film Ikkis in Mumbai. While the moment was nostalgic for cinema lovers, it also sparked a wave of reactions online, with several users controversially referring to Fatima as an “aunty.”
The special screening of Ikkis, starring Agastya Nanda and Simar Bhatia, was held on December 29 and saw the presence of several prominent celebrities, including Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Salman Khan, and Shweta Bachchan. Among the attendees was Tabu, who posed for photographers alongside Fatima Sana Shaikh.
During the photo-op, Tabu reminded everyone of their past association, saying, “She played my daughter in ‘Chachi 420’.” The statement instantly took fans down memory lane.
A Nostalgic Throwback to Chachi 420
Released on December 19, 1997, Kamal Haasan’s ‘Chachi 420’ featured Tabu, Amrish Puri, Om Puri, Paresh Rawal, and Kamal Haasan in key roles. The film ran for 2 hours and 40 minutes and earned approximately ₹11.30 crore net in India, with a worldwide collection of ₹20.02 crore. Fatima Sana Shaikh had played Tabu’s daughter in the film as a child artist—an association fans fondly remember even today.
Social Media Reactions Pour In
After the video of Tabu and Fatima surfaced online, fans flooded the comment section with mixed reactions. Many praised Tabu’s timeless beauty, with one user commenting, “Tabu looks younger than her on-screen daughter.” Another wrote, “If Tabu had married, her daughter would have been this old.”
However, some comments drew criticism, as a section of users referred to Fatima as an “aunty,” despite her being just 33 years old. Others, meanwhile, showered both actresses with fire and heart emojis, appreciating their elegance and screen legacy.
Age Gap and Upcoming Projects
Tabu is currently 54 years old, while Fatima Sana Shaikh is 33, marking an age difference of 21 years between the two. Interestingly, Chachi 420 remains the only film in which they have appeared together.
On the work front, Tabu is set to reunite with Ajay Devgn in ‘Drishyam 3’, with shooting scheduled to begin in January 2026 in Goa. The film is slated for release on October 2, 2026.
The brief reunion of the on-screen mother-daughter duo not only revived fond memories but also reignited conversations about age, perception, and timeless stardom in Bollywood.
