Sunny Deol Smiles Again After ‘Border 2’ Success, First Time Since Father Dharmendra’s Passing

Mumbai: Actor Sunny Deol shared a video celebrating the success of his film ‘Border 2’, marking the first time he has been seen smiling publicly since the passing of his father, Dharmendra, on 24 November 2025. In the video, Sunny is seen cutting a cake, dancing, and thanking fans, while his team presents him with a bouquet of flowers.

Celebrating ‘Border 2’
The film, directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Nidhi Dutta, has taken the box office by storm. Released just a week ago, ‘Border 2’ has already grossed over ₹224 crore. In the Instagram story, Sunny celebrated with his team, cutting a cake inscribed, “Congratulations Border 2”, and joyfully singing, “Happy Border 2 you, Happy Border 2 Sunny Sir, Happy Border 2 you.”

Sunny’s team members, playfully referred to as his ‘Baahubali crew’, feed him cake and present a flower bouquet, which he kisses and thanks them for. Addressing fans, he said, “This is our team, and we are very happy that you all loved our film.”

Box Office Performance
‘Border 2’ opened with ₹30 crore on day one, followed by ₹36.5 crore on day two and ₹54.5 crore on day three. On Republic Day (26 January), the film recorded its highest single-day collection of ₹59 crore. The film has now earned ₹224.25 crore overall.

Comparison with ‘Gadar 2’
With a budget of around ₹275 crore, the film has grossed ₹323 crore worldwide, covering its costs. However, it could not surpass the first-week record of ‘Gadar 2’, which earned ₹284.63 crore, while ‘Border 2’ collected ₹235 crore in the same period.
