In an era dominated by pan-India releases, “Dhurandhar” has achieved a remarkable feat by delivering record-breaking earnings despite releasing solely in Hindi. Its phenomenal success has drawn admiration from South Indian cinema’s biggest stars, including Surya, Allu Arjun, and Shiva Rajkumar, who have showered praise on the spy-action blockbuster.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, “Dhurandhar” has achieved what few films can: in just 31 days, it has collected a net of ₹772.25 crore in India and a worldwide gross of ₹1,201.50 crore. This achievement has been particularly notable as most South Indian blockbusters, from Pushpa 2 and Baahubali 2 to RRR, KGF 2, and Kantara Chapter 1, have relied heavily on Hindi-speaking audiences for record earnings. In contrast, “Dhurandhar” succeeded without a pan-India release.
Surya Calls “Dhurandhar” a Masterpiece
Tamil superstar Surya Sivakumar, known for hits like Singham and Ghajini, praised the film on X (formerly Twitter), calling it a “masterpiece” and applauding Aditya Dhar’s direction. He also lauded the performances of R. Madhavan and Ranveer Singh, writing,
“Thank you, Aditya Dhar, for this masterpiece. ‘Dhurandhar’—what a film! Completely impressed by your artistry. Love and respect to you and the entire team. Special congratulations to my brother R. Madhavan—what a transformation! Kudos to Akshay Khanna and Ranveer Singh for a highly successful blockbuster. Love from Jyothika and me.”
Aditya Dhar responded to Surya’s praise, saying,
“I cannot put into words, Surya sir. Your love and encouragement mean everything to us. Feeling honored and inspired. Much love and respect to you and ma’am.”
R. Madhavan and Shiva Rajkumar Join the Applause
R. Madhavan, who played Ajay Sanyal in the film, thanked Surya for his heartfelt words, expressing,
“It means so much that this came from you and Jyothika. Such kindness and generosity. Much love back, brother. Looking forward to watching your upcoming films. God bless you.”
Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar also praised Ranveer Singh’s performance at a press event for his own film 45, calling “Dhurandhar” emotionally powerful. He highlighted the film’s detailed performances, technical finesse, and the nuanced acting of both Akshay Khanna and Ranveer Singh, describing the film as beautifully executed.
Allu Arjun, Adivi Sesh, and Nikhil Siddharth Applaud the Film
Telugu superstar Allu Arjun, after watching the film in Hyderabad, praised the performances, technical brilliance, and soundtrack, calling it a “brilliant film” and congratulating Aditya Dhar for his exceptional direction.
Actor Adivi Sesh, known for spy thrillers, called it a “heartbreaking yet remarkable cinematic experience” and praised the cast and crew for creating a memorable experience.
Kannada actor Nikhil Siddharth highlighted the film’s patriotic theme, sharing a GIF of Ranveer Singh and writing,
“Congratulations to the team of ‘Dhurandhar.’ Every moment of this cinematic experience was appreciated. Based on the true story of Indian patriots, don’t miss seeing it in theatres.”
With such widespread acclaim from both audiences and South Indian cinema icons, “Dhurandhar” has firmly established itself as one of the most celebrated Hindi releases of recent times.
