Mumbai: Renowned filmmaker Sooraj R. Barjatya, best known for cult classics like Maine Pyar Kiya, has officially entered the OTT space with his upcoming web series titled ‘Sangamarmar’. The makers recently released the trailer of the multi-generational family drama, which has already created a buzz for its emotional and intense storyline.
The 1 minute 48 seconds long trailer presents a deeply moving narrative that revolves around love, sacrifice, family responsibilities, and the emotional weight of difficult choices. The series features Saurabh Jain and Sheen Savita Das in lead roles.
A Story of Love, Duty and Sacrifice
The trailer highlights the journey of a young woman named Amrita, whose life takes a dramatic turn after a major incident in the family. As her relationship with Aditya begins to flourish, fate forces her to step away from her personal happiness and choose family responsibilities instead.
One of the most striking dialogues from the trailer is delivered by Saurabh Jain’s character, who questions emotionally,
“Will she become a mother overnight from being a sister?”
The series portrays how Amrita comes forward to perform her mother’s last rites, a decision that sparks questions within the family. To this, she responds strongly,
“Not as a girl, but as a daughter.”
Barjatya Calls it a Story of Real Families
Speaking about the project, Sooraj Barjatya described Sangamarmar as a reflection of real-life families.
“Sangamarmar is the story of families we see around us. It shows relationships in their most real form—love, misunderstandings, waiting, and the effort to stay together. The biggest theme of this story is patience. It shows how time can test relationships and also heal them,”
Barjatya said.
Director Vikram Ghai Brings the Vision to Life
The series has been directed by Vikram Ghai, while Sheen Savita Das plays the central character Amrita. Sharing her experience, the actress said that the entire story revolves around Amrita and the tough decisions she is forced to make.
“Amrita always prioritizes responsibility over happiness. As an actress, her struggle felt extremely real to me. I had to feel her silence, sacrifices and quiet strength. Working with Sooraj Barjatya is a huge opportunity. His stories have shaped the way we look at families and relationships,”
Sheen Savita Das said.
Smita Bansal Describes Her Role as Emotional Backbone
Actress Smita Bansal, who plays Vasudha, called her character the emotional pillar of the family.
“Vasudha is the emotional backbone of the family. She quietly manages everything with love and strength. Even though her presence is limited, her impact on Amrita’s life is deep. What I loved most about Sangamarmar is that it beautifully shows how a mother’s love and values influence generations,”
Smita Bansal stated.
A Promising Emotional Family Drama
With a powerful storyline and Sooraj Barjatya’s signature touch of relationships and values, Sangamarmar promises to be a heartfelt family drama that highlights the importance of sacrifice, patience, and emotional resilience.
The web series is expected to stream soon on an OTT platform, and the trailer has already set high expectations among viewers.
