Actor Shreyas Talpade, widely admired for his impeccable comic timing and memorable performances in films such as Iqbal, Om Shanti Om, and the Golmaal franchise, also has a deeply touching and unconventional love story that stands apart from typical celebrity romances.
Unlike most Bollywood love stories, Shreyas Talpade’s romance began far away from film sets and glamour. In the year 2000, when Shreyas had started gaining popularity through a successful Marathi television show, he was invited as a celebrity guest to a college event. His appearance on stage lasted only a few minutes, but it proved to be life-changing. It was there that he met Dipti, a student at the same college.
In later interviews, Shreyas revealed that it was love at first sight. He recalled that the moment he saw Dipti, he felt an instant connection. At that time, he had never dated anyone before, and Dipti became his first and only girlfriend. What impressed him the most was her simplicity, behavior, and warmth.
Expressing his feelings, however, was not easy. Shreyas admitted that although he was deeply drawn to Dipti, he initially hesitated to speak to her about his emotions. True to his straightforward nature, once he did gather the courage, he wasted no time. Just four days after meeting her, he called Dipti and directly proposed marriage, telling her that he liked her and wanted to spend his life with her. Understandably, she was surprised by the sudden proposal.
Believing firmly in not wasting time when it comes to important life decisions, Shreyas followed his heart. On 31 December 2004, he and Dipti tied the knot in a traditional Marathi wedding ceremony, marking the beginning of a strong and enduring partnership.
After 14 years of marriage, the couple welcomed their daughter Adya through surrogacy. The news came while they were vacationing in Hong Kong, and they immediately returned to India to embrace their new role as parents. Shreyas has often spoken about his daughter with immense affection, saying he wants to be her best friend and guide her through life.
On the professional front, Shreyas Talpade has enjoyed a successful career spanning television, films, and voice acting. After Om Shanti Om, he went on to deliver major hits such as Golmaal Returns, Golmaal 2, Housefull 2, and Golmaal Again. He is now set to appear in Welcome 3. According to media reports, his estimated net worth is around ₹40 crore, and he owns several luxury cars.
