Veteran actor Sanjay Mishra, currently in the spotlight for his upcoming film Wadh 2, recently spoke about a deeply emotional and challenging period in his life. In a candid interview, Mishra revealed how his father’s death and a serious health scare made him reevaluate everything, even leading him to leave films temporarily and work at a roadside eatery in Rishikesh.
A Shocking Discovery in Father’s Diary
Mishra shared that after his father passed away, he read his father’s diary and was shocked to learn that he had caused him embarrassment. “It was heartbreaking to see that my father felt ashamed because of me,” he said. This revelation, combined with his personal struggles, prompted Mishra to withdraw from films for a time.
Health Scare and Hospital Trauma
During the shoot of All the Best, Mishra underwent surgery. Doctors warned him that if the operation failed, he might survive for only a day or two. “I was dealing with immense trauma. Every visitor in the hospital reminded me of people who had succumbed to my illness. I told my father that if I kept meeting such people, I’d die from anxiety before the medicine could even act,” Mishra recounted.
Father’s Last Days and a Painful Memory
Mishra recounted a poignant incident following his hospital discharge. His father took him to watch his film Aloo Chaat to encourage him to resume work. However, overwhelmed by the crowd in the theater and the strong antibiotics he was on, Mishra lost his temper and yelled at his father and others around him. Later, upon reading his father’s diary, he discovered that his father had felt embarrassed by the incident. “I wished I could see him one last time to tell him that I never intended to hurt or embarrass him,” Mishra said.
Turning to Spirituality in Rishikesh and Haridwar
After this emotional turmoil, Mishra sought solace in spirituality. He spent time in Haridwar and Rishikesh, reflecting on life and mortality. “I thought, if everyone is going to die anyway, why are we running around so much? I often went off-grid, leaving my phone behind, to clear my mind,” he shared.
