Sanjay Mishra Exclusive: From Classroom PTMs to Rumors of Marrying Mahima Chaudhry

Veteran actor Sanjay Mishra, known for his versatile performances over the past 33 years, is currently in the limelight for his upcoming film Durlabh Prasad Ki Doosri Shaadi, set to release on 19 December 2025. In an exclusive conversation with Navbharat Times, Mishra opened up about his journey, family, struggles, and the humorous rumors surrounding his co-star Mahima Chaudhry.

From Small Roles to Lead Comedy
Mishra, a National School of Drama graduate, recalled the early challenges of his career. “Initially, I got very small roles, but I decided never to confine my acting to one type. That’s why I kept exploring different characters,” he shared. He added, “I’ve learned from every rejection what I can and cannot do. I even plan to write a book titled ‘I Kept Learning’.”

Today, Mishra is at a stage where roles are written with him in mind. He humorously reflected, “I started as a servant in films, and now I am playing the lead in a story of a second marriage with Mahima Chaudhry. Not everyone gets such a chance!”

On Marriage, Life, and Second Chances
The film, directed by Siddhant Raj Singh, revolves around the theme of marriage. Mishra explained, “People are either scared or see it as a duty. Marriage should be about companionship and understanding, whether it’s the first or fifteenth. There should be no regrets before you die.”

Mishra, who remarried after divorcing his first wife, praised his current wife, Kiran Pant Mishra, for her support. “She manages the home beautifully and takes care of everything—me, family, children. Once, during a parent-teacher meeting for my daughters, the teachers kept staring at me, amazed. Kiran has been incredibly supportive throughout.”

Fatherhood in the Digital Age
The actor, father of two daughters, Pal and Lamha, reflected on parenting challenges today. “I try to guide them without pressure, but mobile phones have become a barrier. Earlier, stories or lullabies would connect parents and children. Today, everything is on the screen,” he remarked.

The Mahima Chaudhry Rumor
Talking about his comic role in Durlabh Prasad Ki Doosri Shaadi, Mishra revealed his initial disbelief at being paired with Mahima Chaudhry: “When they told me I’d share screen space—and a second marriage plot—with Mahima, I couldn’t believe it. Some even called me saying, ‘You married Mahima? You’ll need a loan for her shoes!’” He laughed recounting how producers had even arranged an extra room for Mahima during the shoot.
