Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji, known not only for her powerful performances but also for her candid personality, is currently in the spotlight for her upcoming film Mardaani 3. Recently, at an event with female Delhi Police officers, she spoke about her daughter Adira and shared her thoughts on parenting and her hopes for her child’s future.
Focus on Strength, Not Stardom
During the session, a female police officer asked Rani if she wants her daughter to follow in her footsteps and become an actress. Rani responded gracefully, saying, “Right now, my daughter Adira is learning Taekwondo. I want her to be physically and mentally strong.”
She added, “Learning Taekwondo boosts confidence. Adira already feels stronger and more capable than before. Whatever she chooses to do in the future—whether in films or any other field—I will always stand by her and support her.”
Prioritizing Happiness and Self-Confidence
In an interview with IANS, Rani elaborated, “Happiness is the ultimate priority in life. I am a daughter, a sister, and a mother. These roles have taught me that when a person is happy within, they can make those around them happy too. I want Adira to find joy in whatever path she chooses and to move forward with confidence.”
She further emphasized, “In today’s world, it’s essential for girls to be strong and independent. Social change begins when women learn to trust themselves. As a mother, I teach my daughter never to compromise on her happiness or dignity.”
A Heartfelt Letter from Adira
Rani Mukerji prefers keeping her daughter away from the limelight. Recently, at an event with Karan Johar, she read a handwritten letter from Adira, written to celebrate Rani’s 30 years in cinema. In it, Adira expressed her love and admiration for her mother, describing her as the “best mom in the world.” She also reflected on the qualities she inherited from her mother and shared what she didn’t like.
Adira wrote, “Hello Mom, first I want to tell you that I love you very much. You are the best mom in the world. We have created so many memories together—happy, sad, and fun. I inherited some of your qualities, and some I didn’t like, but I also learned from you. From you, I learned the arts of acting, dancing, and painting.”
Celebrating Differences and Similarities
Adira also candidly noted, “There’s one thing I don’t like, which I got from you—your quick temper. We are a little different, like your preference for darker colors and my liking for lighter ones. But in many ways, we are alike—our looks, habits, and talents. Some things I have that you don’t, like my math skills at school.”
Through her words, Adira gave fans a glimpse of the close and open bond she shares with her mother, highlighting a nurturing approach that prioritizes confidence, self-reliance, and happiness above career choices.
