Mumbai: Ranbir Kapoor’s much-anticipated film Love and War, starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, has once again been postponed, pushing its release further down the calendar. The repeated delay has reportedly left the team of Nitesh Tiwari’s epic ‘Ramayanam’ disappointed, as both big-budget projects were expected to have a comfortable gap at the box office.
Ranbir Kapoor currently has two major films in the pipeline—Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War and Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayanam—and audiences are eagerly awaiting both. Initially, Love and War was scheduled for release in March 2026, but it was later shifted to May 2026. Now, according to reports, the film is likely to hit theatres in August or September 2026.
As per a Bollywood Hungama report, the makers are still finalizing the new release date, and an official announcement is expected soon. A source cited by the portal revealed that portions of the film’s shooting are still pending. To accommodate this, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal have reportedly allotted dates in May to complete the remaining schedule.
‘Ramayanam’ Team Disheartened
The repeated postponement of Love and War has affected the release planning of Ramayanam, which is slated to arrive in cinemas during Diwali. The Ramayanam team was reportedly hoping for a six-month gap between the two Ranbir Kapoor releases to ensure sufficient breathing space at the box office. However, with Love and War now eyeing an August–September release window, that gap has significantly narrowed.
Reports also suggest that Ranbir Kapoor had requested director Sanjay Leela Bhansali to consider a June 2026 release, but due to production constraints, this was not feasible. The delay has additionally led to an increase in the film’s budget, owing to the extended shooting schedule. The first look of Love and War is reportedly planned for January 2026, though there has been no official confirmation so far.
About ‘Ramayanam’
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayanam is being made as a two-part epic, scheduled for release during Diwali 2026 and Diwali 2027. The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. The ensemble cast also includes Ravi Dubey, Rakul Preet Singh, Arun Govil, Kunal Kapoor, Kajal Aggarwal, Sheeba Chaddha, and Indira Krishnan, among others.
With both films carrying massive expectations, fans will now have to wait longer to see Ranbir Kapoor in these high-profile roles on the big screen.
