Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav has been released from Tihar Jail after being granted interim bail by the Delhi High Court in a cheque bounce case involving an amount of ₹9 crore. Following his release, the actor thanked his supporters and well-wishers while speaking briefly to the media.
Meanwhile, Rajpal Yadav’s lawyer has made serious allegations against the complainant, claiming that the case is being pursued with a malicious and wrongful intention, rather than being purely financial in nature.
Delhi High Court Grants Interim Bail Till March 18
On Monday, the Delhi High Court granted Rajpal Yadav interim bail till March 18, 2026, in connection with the ongoing cheque bounce dispute. The case has been under legal proceedings for several years and has now gained widespread attention after the actor’s recent custody.
Lawyer Alleges Complainant Wants Actor Sent to Jail
Speaking to the media, Rajpal Yadav’s counsel Bhaskar Upadhyay alleged that the complainant’s primary objective is to get the actor imprisoned. He stated that the matter is being portrayed as a money dispute, but according to him, it is not simply about the payment.
The lawyer described the case as complex and claimed that securing bail was not easy.
“Actor Does Not Understand Legal Complications,” Says Counsel
Bhaskar Upadhyay further stated that Rajpal Yadav is a family man and does not fully understand legal complexities. He added that the actor has repeatedly informed the court that he is willing to clear any outstanding dues as directed.
He also mentioned that Rajpal faced severe financial difficulties after a film project associated with him failed, which resulted in heavy losses.
Claim: Property Documents Worth ₹40 Crore Already Submitted
In a major claim, the lawyer stated that Rajpal Yadav had already submitted original documents of property worth over ₹40 crore to the court.
According to Upadhyay, the complainant allegedly refused to accept the property documents and insisted that the actor should be jailed instead to enforce the decree.
He said,
“The actor deposited original documents of his property in court, stating that the value of the assets is more than ₹40 crore.”
Dispute Over Whether It Was Investment or Personal Loan
The lawyer also clarified that an amount of ₹2.5 crore has already been arranged. He claimed that Rajpal Yadav never denied the liability of paying ₹5 crore, but argued that the amount was an investment made by a production house in a film project, not a personal loan taken by the actor.
However, the complainant Madhav Gopal Agrawal, owner of Murli Projects Pvt Ltd, reportedly stated in an interview that he did not invest in any film. He claimed that the agreement included personal guarantees and cheques, which are not typically involved in film investments.
Next Hearing on March 18
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for March 18, 2026. Until then, Rajpal Yadav will remain out of custody, subject to court conditions.
