The case dates back to 2010, when Rajpal Yadav borrowed ₹5 crore from M/s Murali Projects Pvt. Ltd for his film ‘Ata Pata Lapata’, a directorial venture he helmed for the first time. Unfortunately, the film flopped, leaving him unable to repay the amount. Subsequently, legal proceedings were initiated against him, citing bounced cheques. Before surrendering, Rajpal had expressed his distress, saying, “I don’t have the money, and I see no other way. There’s no friend here who can help.”

His manager, Goldy, told Screen that several actors have come forward to help Rajpal Yadav, including Sonu Sood, Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Varun Dhawan, and Ratan Jain. Goldy said, “Many people from the industry have extended their support like a rock. Rajpal is truly grateful for this gesture.”

The manager added that the collective efforts of his friends and colleagues could ensure Rajpal’s release by Thursday, providing relief to both the actor and his family.
