Rajpal Yadav Thanks Supporters After Jail Release, Praises Wife Radha: “I’m Lucky”

Veteran actor Rajpal Yadav has opened up in an exclusive interview after his release from Tihar Jail, revealing that he has yet to check his phone or personally thank the long list of well-wishers who supported him during his legal troubles.

The Legal Battle

Rajpal Yadav, known for his versatile performances in Bollywood, was imprisoned in Delhi’s Tihar Jail over a check bounce case. He was released after 13 days upon paying ₹1.5 crore to the complainant. The actor had sought bail citing his niece’s wedding on 19 February. During his brief incarceration, a video of him dancing went viral, endearing him further to fans.

The controversy dates back to his directorial venture Ata Pata Lapata, in which a company invested ₹5 crore. After the film failed at the box office, Yadav’s post-dated cheques bounced, eventually escalating to a debt of ₹9 crore. Several prominent personalities extended financial support, helping him repay the dues.

A Life of Gratitude

In an interview with UP Tak, Yadav reflected on his 30-year journey since arriving in Mumbai in 1997: “I have received so much love that even saying ‘thank you’ feels insufficient. Audiences from all walks of life smile at me, and I smile back. Through theatre, films, and television, I have lived over 500 lives.”

He continued, expressing gratitude to those who supported him via social media, as well as those who reached out personally. “Since coming out of jail, I haven’t even properly checked my phone. My wife Radha told me how many people personally contacted me. I owe them all my heartfelt thanks.”

Praise for Wife Radha

Rajpal Yadav also spoke warmly about his wife Radha, calling her a rock throughout their journey. “I am lucky that my wife taught me how to live with goodness. We married in 2003, and for 23 years, she has cared for our children and supported my dreams. She has guided the next generation—what more could I ask for?”

Gratitude to Colleagues

Yadav extended thanks to actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, highlighting the generosity and camaraderie he experienced while working with him. He said, “He treated me like family, sharing his meals and giving me opportunities. The credit goes entirely to him; I had no role in it.”

Upcoming Press Conference

The court granted bail on the condition that Yadav surrender his passport and not leave the country without permission. The next hearing is scheduled for 18 March, where he will appear in person or online. Rajpal stated, “After coming out, I announced that I would hold a press conference with my legal team to explain everything. This may be my last chance to speak on the matter, so I request everyone to give me some time to present my side.”

Rajpal Yadav’s story reflects resilience, gratitude, and the unwavering support of family and colleagues during challenging times.
