Rajpal Yadav Opens Up About Jail Struggle, Legal Battle, and Future Plans

Actor Rajpal Yadav, who recently secured interim bail in a ₹9 crore cheque bounce case, attended his niece’s wedding along with his wife Radha Yadav and spoke about his ongoing legal battle and future plans. The couple also expressed gratitude to everyone who supported them during this challenging period.

Rajpal Yadav was granted interim bail on 17 February and returned to his village in Shahjahanpur with his wife. He later attended his niece’s wedding, marking a brief but meaningful reunion with family. In an exclusive interview with Hindustan Times, Rajpal discussed his time in jail and how he coped with the difficulties.

Jail Struggles: Family Separation Was Hardest

Reflecting on his time behind bars, Rajpal said,

“The most difficult part was being away from my family. I established a routine for myself — waking up early, doing breathing exercises, and focusing on maintaining mental balance. This case has been ongoing for several years, and I felt the right approach was to resolve it legally.”

His wife Radha added,

“We explored all legal and honorable options. Sometimes, the solution depends not only on willpower but also on timing.”

Gratitude for Support

During his incarceration at Tihar Jail, several film industry personalities extended support to Rajpal Yadav. Celebrities like Sonu Sood, Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Gurmeet Choudhary, Guru Randhawa, Mika Singh, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui provided financial help and even work opportunities. While the couple did not name all supporters, they expressed deep gratitude to everyone who stood by them.

Rajpal remarked,

“I am thankful for all the love and goodwill I received. What remained most meaningful during this period was people’s faith in me. For someone like me, respect, time, and the opportunity to express oneself matter more than anything else.”

Future Plans and Acting Career

Looking ahead, Rajpal shared his professional plans:

“I will continue to respect the court and follow every directive. From the beginning, I have maintained this approach and will allow the legal process to take its course. While my work schedule may be temporarily affected, I will gradually resume my projects with responsibility. Acting has been my life for many years, and I remain dedicated to it.”

After being granted interim bail, Rajpal immediately went to Shahjahanpur for his niece’s wedding, saying the reunion with family was extremely meaningful after a difficult period.

The Cheque Bounce Case Explained

The case stems from the 2010 film Ata Pata Lapata, produced by Rajpal Yadav. He had received ₹5 crore from a private company, Murli Projects, for the film, but it flopped at the box office, leading to financial losses. Unable to repay the company in time, the amount with accumulated interest grew to ₹9 crore. Seven cheques Rajpal issued to the company bounced, prompting legal action. The case extended over several years, eventually leading the Delhi High Court to order his surrender at Tihar Jail in 2026.

Next Hearing

Rajpal’s interim bail was granted for 30 days, allowing him to attend family events. The next court hearing is scheduled for 18 March, where both parties will have to be present in court.
