The ongoing property dispute following the demise of businessman Sanjay Kapur has taken a legal turn, as his third wife, Priya Sachdev, has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking certified copies of all documents related to the divorce between Sanjay Kapur and actress Karisma Kapoor. The petition includes a request for agreements, terms, and child custody papers, as well as details regarding alimony, including whether any was granted and the amount. The matter is scheduled for hearing on 16 January 2026.
Petition Details
In her petition, Priya Sachdev has specifically asked the court to provide her with copies of all filings related to the divorce, including documents submitted in court, Supreme Court orders, and especially the settlement agreements between Sanjay and Karisma. Justice A.S. Chandurkar’s chamber bench will decide whether these confidential documents can be shared with Priya.
Property Dispute Context
The petition comes amid a larger dispute over Sanjay Kapur’s property following his passing in 2025. Karisma Kapoor’s children have challenged Sanjay’s will in the Delhi High Court, alleging irregularities and claiming that Priya Sachdev is attempting to claim the entire estate in her name.
Sanjay Kapur’s Marriages
Sanjay Kapur had been married three times. His first marriage was with fashion designer Nandita Mahtani, which lasted four years. His second marriage was with Karisma Kapoor, with whom he had two children, Samaira and Kiaan. The couple filed for divorce by mutual consent in 2014, which was finalized in 2016. Sanjay later married Priya Sachdev, and they have a son, Azarius. Additionally, Sanjay had adopted Safira Chatwal, Priya’s daughter from her previous marriage to Vikram Chatwal.
Following Sanjay Kapur’s demise, the ensuing property dispute has made headlines, and the Supreme Court hearing on Priya’s petition is being closely watched.
