‘Pardesi Pardesi Jana Nahi’ Actress Pratibha Sinha Never Married, Boyfriend Faced Murder Allegations, Left the Country

Pratibha Sinha, who rose to fame with the iconic song “Pardesi Pardesi Jana Nahi” from the 1996 blockbuster Raja Hindustani, has stayed away from Bollywood for years and never married. Her personal life had been the subject of much speculation, particularly her alleged relationship with music composer Nadeem Saifi, who later left India amid serious controversies.

Pratibha made her Bollywood debut in 1992 with Mahboob Mere Mahboob, which failed at the box office. She then appeared in Kal Ki Awaaz, during whose music sessions she developed a close bond with Nadeem of the famed Nadeem-Shravan duo. This professional closeness reportedly turned personal, causing concern for her mother, veteran actress Mala Sinha, as Nadeem was married, a father of two, and followed a different religion.

Sources suggest that Mala Sinha was worried that the alleged affair was affecting Pratibha’s career. Pratibha, however, maintained her dedication to her friend and music, reportedly shooting the Pardesi song without taking any payment. Despite offers for other films, including a role in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, she stepped away from the industry due to personal reasons.

The controversy escalated when rumors spread that Pratibha had eloped with Nadeem. According to reports, Mala Sinha even sought help from Balasaheb Thackeray to locate her daughter, eventually bringing her back to Mumbai. Following this, Pratibha publicly accused Nadeem of sexual exploitation and kidnapping.

In 1997, when music producer Gulshan Kumar was murdered, Nadeem’s name surfaced in investigations. Public prosecutor Ujjwal Nigam, speaking on a podcast, alleged that Nadeem had orchestrated the murder from Dubai. Nadeem, however, consistently denied all allegations, stating in interviews that he had been in London on vacation at the time and had never fled India.

Amid the media storm and legal controversies, Pratibha withdrew from Bollywood entirely and chose not to marry, while Nadeem has not returned to India. The duo’s dramatic story remains one of the most talked-about sagas in the history of Bollywood.
