“Panchayat 5, Kohra 2, Gullak 5”: 10 Popular Web Series to Return with New Seasons on OTT in 2026

Just like 2025, the year 2026 promises an exciting lineup of new seasons and sequels for hit web series on OTT platforms. From Panchayat 5 and Gullak 5 to Kohra 2 and Andekhi 2, audiences can look forward to ten new seasons across various streaming services in the coming months.

OTT Continues to Dominate Viewer Preferences
In recent years, viewers have increasingly favored OTT platforms over traditional cinema. The abundance of innovative storytelling and high-quality web series has enriched digital content, with new seasons of popular shows playing a key role. Fans eagerly anticipate fresh episodes of their favorite shows, a trend that continues into 2026. This year, series like Andekhi, Gullak, and Panchayat are set to entertain audiences once again.

Notable New Seasons Already in Production
The trend of continuing beloved shows has already kicked off with SonyLIV’s Freedom at Midnight 2, a follow-up to the 2024 Nikhil Advani-directed series on India’s Partition, which received critical acclaim.

On SonyLIV, viewers can also expect Andekhi 4 and Gullak 5, while Prime Video will release Panchayat 5, continuing the adventures of the ever-popular small-town bureaucrats. MX Player will stream the second season of Bindiya Ke Bahubali, starring Ranvir Shorey and Vineet Kumar.

Netflix is preparing the second season of Kohra, featuring Barun Sobti and Suvinder Vicky, alongside The Royals 2, starring Zeenat Aman, Bhumi Pednekar, Eshan Khatter, Dino Morea, and Chunky Pandey. The second season of Single Papa, led by Kunal Khemu, has also been announced.

Major OTT Releases in 2026

  • Netflix: Kohra 2, The Royals 2, Single Papa 2
  • SonyLIV: Andekhi 4, Gullak 5
  • Prime Video: Panchayat 5
  • MX Player: Bindiya Ke Bahubali 2

A Look Back at 2025’s Web Series Success
In 2025, sequels and new seasons of popular web shows dominated OTT platforms. On JioHotstar, Special Ops 2, Kajol-starrer The Trial 2, and Pankaj Tripathi’s Criminal Justice 4 were widely discussed. SonyLIV premiered the fourth season of Maharani, while Netflix streamed Delhi Crime 3, Rana Naidu 2, and Khaki: The Bengal Chapter. Prime Video released Paatal Lok 2, Panchayat 4, The Family Man 3, and Four More Shots Please 4. MX Player saw hits like Bobby Deol’s Ek Badnam Ashram and the crime-thriller Hunter: Tootega Nahin Todega 2.

Not Every Show Gets a Sequel
New seasons are typically greenlit only for shows that achieve success. Anurag Kashyap’s Sacred Games did not receive a third season due to lukewarm audience response to its second, while series like Shahrukh Khan–Imran Hashmi’s Bird of Blood, Madhuri Dixit’s The Fame Game, and Tigmanshu Dhulia’s The Great Indian Murder were discontinued after their first seasons despite narrative potential.

Highly Anticipated Shows Awaiting New Seasons

  • Sacred Games 3
  • Bird of Blood 2
  • The Fame Game 2
  • The Great Indian Murder 2
  • Ghol 2

Challenges in Sustaining New Seasons
Huma Qureshi, who shines in SonyLIV’s Maharani, observes, “Even during OTT’s golden period, only a handful of shows received new seasons. Many breakout shows and fresh stories struggled to continue. Now, fewer shows are able to progress season after season, indicating a slowdown in content expansion.”

With ten new seasons lined up for 2026, fans can once again indulge in their favorite characters and storylines while OTT platforms continue to be the prime destination for web content.
