O’Romeo: Nana Patekar Paid 91.11% Less Than Shahid Kapoor; Avinash Tiwary and Triptii Dimri Also Earn Significantly Lower Fees

Mumbai: Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming romantic crime drama O’Romeo has already created considerable buzz ahead of its release on February 13. While audiences are eagerly waiting to witness the on-screen chemistry between Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, a recent report revealing the cast’s remuneration has sparked fresh discussion.

According to industry sources, Shahid Kapoor, who plays gangster Hussain Ustra, has emerged as the highest-paid actor in the film, charging a massive ₹45 crore for his role. This puts veteran actor Nana Patekar, who essays the role of Ismail Khan, at a striking 91.11% lower fee, having reportedly been paid ₹4 crore.

O’Romeo is based on author Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai and is inspired by real-life events. The film features an ensemble cast including Triptii Dimri, Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, Farida Jalal, Tamannaah Bhatia, Disha Patani, Aruna Irani, and a special cameo by Vikrant Massey.

Triptii Dimri, who plays gangster Sapna Didi opposite Shahid Kapoor, is reported to have charged ₹6 crore for the film. Avinash Tiwary, seen in the antagonist’s role as Jalal, reportedly earned ₹7 crore, making his fee higher than that of Nana Patekar. Actress Disha Patani, who appears as dance teacher Julie, received ₹2 crore, while Tamannaah Bhatia plays the role of Rabia. The exact remuneration for Vikrant Massey’s special appearance has not been disclosed.

The film has also landed in controversy even before its release. The daughter of gangster Hussain Ustra has accused the makers of portraying her father in a negative light. She reportedly sent a legal notice demanding ₹2 crore in compensation, requested a delay in the film’s release, and sought a private screening before its public release.

With its star-studded cast, real-life inspiration, and pre-release controversies, O’Romeo continues to stay in the spotlight, making it one of the most talked-about films ahead of its theatrical debut.
