Operation Sindoor: Vivek Agnihotri to Bring Military Action Film to Big Screen

Director Vivek Agnihotri, known for controversial films like The Kashmir Files and The Bengal Files, is all set to make his next movie, Operation Sindoor. The film, co-produced with Bhushan Kumar under T-Series Movies and Agnihotri’s IM Buddha Production, will dramatize the Indian Army’s counter-terror operations at terrorist camps in Pakistan and PoK following the Pahalgam attack.

A Nationalistic Military Drama

The film is based on the military operation codenamed Operation Sindoor, conducted after the 22 April 2025 Pahalgam terrorist attack that claimed 26 tourists’ lives. The operation involved precise strikes on nine terrorist training camps across the border using BrahMos missiles, aiming to dismantle terror networks without civilian casualties.

Agnihotri, who has won the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration for The Kashmir Files, confirmed the project to India Today, calling it a “big nationalistic project”. However, he declined to share further details about the cast or other elements, promising an official announcement at the right time.

Vivek Agnihotri: A Career of Flops and One Mega Hit

Born in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, Agnihotri began his career in advertising before directing his first feature, Chocolate (2005), which flopped. Over 20 years, most of his films—including Gol (2007), Hate Story (2012), Zid (2014), Buddha in a Traffic Jam (2016), and The Bengal Files (2025)—have been commercial failures. His only blockbuster remains The Kashmir Files (2022), which also earned him national recognition.

Despite multiple setbacks, Agnihotri continues to focus on patriotic and nationalistic themes, now turning to military action with Operation Sindoor.
