
November 18 marked what would have been the 53rd birthday of late Assamese singer and Bollywood favourite Zubeen Garg. While fans gathered with moist eyes outside his Guwahati home to cut a cake in his memory, his wife Garima Saikia shared an emotional tribute that has left the internet teary-eyed.
A Post Filled with Love, Memory and Pain
Garima took to Instagram to remember her husband, posting unseen photographs—from their wedding in 2002 to a picture from last year where she is seen feeding him cake on his birthday.
Her caption struck a deep chord:
“From this life to the next, I will write my stories with you, Goldie… Happy birthday. Stay safe.”
The heartfelt post, accompanied by cherished visuals, quickly went viral as fans and well-wishers mourned the void left behind by the iconic singer.
Fans Gather Outside His Home
Despite his absence, Zubeen’s admirers ensured the tradition of celebrating his birthday continued.
A crowd gathered outside his residence in Guwahati, carrying flowers, candles and a birthday cake.
They prayed, sang his songs, and cut the cake in his honour—turning the street into an emotional tribute for the late legend.

How Did Zubeen Garg Pass Away?
Zubeen had travelled to Singapore to participate in the North East Festival.
On 19 September, he reportedly drowned in the sea under mysterious circumstances.
Singapore police rescued him from the water and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was admitted to the ICU.
Despite doctors’ efforts, he could not be saved.
His sudden death sent shockwaves across India, especially in Assam, where he was adored not just as a singer but as an icon, a youth voice, and a cultural symbol.
