Mumait Khan, known for her item song Dekh Le from Munna Bhai MBBS, recently shared intimate details about her personal life, career struggles, and why she chose to remain unmarried at 40.
Career Break After Tragic Accident
Rising quickly in Bollywood and South Indian cinema for her item songs, Mumait’s career came to an abrupt halt following a severe accident at home. She suffered multiple brain vessel ruptures, went into a coma for 15 days, and began experiencing epileptic seizures. Doctors warned her against strenuous work and activities, forcing her to spend seven years in recovery, largely confined to bed.
Why She Remained Single
Mumait revealed that her personal life took a backseat to her career and recovery. She stated, “I’m not a typical girl. I have both male and female personality traits. I’ve had four serious relationships. I am unmarried by choice, not because I couldn’t find someone. If the right person comes along now, I have no objection.”
She explained that she started working at the age of 13 and sacrificed much of her teenage and young adult years for her career and family. “I never had time to think about marriage or children. I’m business-minded, and there was no space for personal relationships,” she said.
Tongue Piercing Incident
Mumait, known for her love of tattoos and piercings, also revealed a rebellious story about her tongue piercing. At 18, she pierced her tongue, which swelled to three times its normal size for eight months. “Everyone had piercings on ears, eyebrows, and noses, so I thought, why not my tongue? I later removed it and proudly said, ‘Now try to copy me,’” she shared.
She added, “If I weren’t an actor, I might have been in the Guinness Book of World Records as the woman with the most tattoos.”
A Life of Determination and Independence
Despite the hardships, Mumait Khan remains single and independent, focusing on her personal choices and career rather than societal expectations of marriage. Her candid revelations highlight her resilience, rebellious streak, and determination to live life on her own terms.
