The firing at Rohit Shetty’s home occurred on 1 February 2026, prompting the Mumbai Police and Crime Branch to move to high alert. The attack is believed to have been carried out by members of the Bishnoi gang, following which the filmmaker’s security was significantly increased. Initially, only two police personnel were posted at Shetty’s residence, but additional security has now been deployed.

Police have recorded statements from over a dozen witnesses so far. The Crime Branch revealed that the shooter used an ultra-modern country-made firearm, discharging five 7.62mm bullets. Alleged Payments to Accomplices
The Crime Branch reported that two accused, Siddharth Yenpure and Swapnil Sakat, who delivered the scooter from Pune to Mumbai, received a total of ₹10,000 from the mastermind Shubham Lonkar, via accomplice Samarth Pomaji. Police are now investigating the total amount provided by the Bishnoi gang for the operation, including examining the bank transactions of the accused.
