Veteran actor Mukesh Rishi has responded to recent remarks made by Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman. In an interview, Rishi said that Rahman should refrain from complaining and instead appreciate the accomplishments he has already achieved.
Mukesh Rishi on Rahman’s Statement
AR Rahman’s comments have sparked widespread debate across the entertainment industry and political circles, drawing both criticism and support. Speaking to news agency IANS, 90s-era star Mukesh Rishi said, “Rahman Sahab cannot think that everyone has been thrown out. He should consider how many talented people have come into the industry over the past eight years. Someone may not seem talented to you, but if God has blessed them, He wants to help them. The rules are the same for everyone.”
Rishi added, “I cannot say why I’m not getting work or why films are fewer. I focus on myself. If someone observes, they’ll see I’m managing. These changes happen to everyone—whether an actor, a music director, or anyone else. Heroes of the past are now playing villains, roles we once used to do.”
Advising Rahman Against Complaints
Rishi reminded Rahman of his decades-long success in the industry, noting, “You’ve worked for 20–25 years and we’ve all hummed your songs. Even recently, one of your songs became a hit. When God has given you so much, there’s no need for complaints. You’ve received plenty already, so one shouldn’t say work isn’t coming because of some reason.”
AR Rahman’s Awards and Achievements
Rahman’s illustrious career includes numerous awards and honors, including the Oscar, Grammy, BAFTA, and several others. Beyond films, he has contributed to personal music albums and various charity projects, cementing his status as one of the most respected composers in India and internationally.
