Mouni Roy Faces Harassment During Event in Haryana: Actress Shares Disturbing Experience

Haryana: Bollywood actress Mouni Roy recently spoke out about a troubling incident that occurred during an event in Karnal, Haryana, where she was reportedly harassed by elderly men in the audience. Sharing her experience on Instagram, Mouni revealed that some men, including those of grandfather’s age, tried to touch her waist while taking photos. When she asked them to stop, they reportedly used abusive language.

She wrote, “At an event in Karnal, I was extremely disappointed by the behavior of the guests, especially two elderly men. As I walked towards the stage, these men and their family members placed their hands on my waist while taking photos. When I politely asked them to remove their hands, they didn’t like it at all.”

The situation escalated further when two men standing near the stage reportedly made obscene comments, gestures, and continued verbal abuse. Mouni recalled, “They were making vulgar gestures right in front of me and using abusive language. I first tried to signal them politely to stop, but they started throwing roses at me. During my performance, I left the stage briefly but returned to complete it. Despite this, they continued, and neither the family members nor the organizers intervened.”

Despite the harassment, Mouni expressed concern for young women entering the industry, saying, “If someone like me has to face this, I can’t even imagine what new girls starting out must endure. I feel humiliated and shocked, and I urge authorities to take strict action against such behavior.”

Emphasizing the plight of performers, she added, “We are artists trying to earn our livelihood honestly through our craft. Imagine if their daughters, sisters, or family members were treated this way—would they stand for it? It’s shameful!”

Mouni also highlighted the audacity of the men, noting that they were filming her from below the elevated stage. When asked to stop, they reacted aggressively. She wrote, “I love my country, my people, and our traditions—but this? How shameless! The arrogance of some men is unbelievable. I rarely post negative experiences publicly, but this behavior cannot be justified. We, as performers, come to events to celebrate and add joy to people’s occasions, yet we are subjected to harassment.”

On the professional front, Mouni Roy gained acclaim last year for her performances in ‘The Bhootni’ alongside Sanjay Dutt and Sunny Singh, and later appeared in the OTT spy thriller ‘Salakar’.
