Major Box Office Shake-Up: Ajay Devgn’s De De Pyaar De 2 Surges on Tuesday, While Haq Struggles to Stay Afloat

The box office witnessed a dramatic twist on Tuesday. After suffering a significant dip on Monday, Ajay Devgn’s De De Pyaar De 2 made a strong recovery on Day 5. Meanwhile, the collections of Imran Hashmi and Yami Gautam’s Haq improved slightly, but the rise is too small to rescue the film from sinking further.

Strong Tuesday Boost Saves De De Pyaar De 2

Following the massive success of Shaitaan, Ajay Devgn and R. Madhavan reunited for the romantic comedy De De Pyaar De 2. The film opened well over the weekend due to positive word of mouth but stumbled badly on Monday.

Thanks to the “Tuesday Offer”—where multiplex tickets are priced lower—the film bounced back impressively. Not only did earnings rise, but overall footfall also increased significantly across theatres.

De De Pyaar De 2, the sequel to the 2019 hit, stars Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh, and Meezaan Jafri. With a budget of nearly ₹100 crore, the film still needs to maintain strong weekday collections, especially with tough competition ahead from Farhan Akhtar’s 120 Bahadur and the adult-comedy franchise film Masti 4 releasing on 21 November.

Box Office Collection – Day 5: De De Pyaar De 2

According to Sacnilk:

  • Tuesday Collection (Day 5): ₹5.00 crore
  • Total (5 days): ₹44.00 crore
  • Monday Collection: ₹4.25 crore

The occupancy also jumped to 16.53%, up from below 10% the previous day.

Imran–Yami’s Haq Slips Further Despite Minor Growth

On the other hand, Suparn Verma’s Haq continues to face a steep decline. Though it recorded a slight jump on Day 12, the film’s pace remains far too slow.

  • Tuesday (Day 12): ₹45 lakh
  • Monday: ₹35 lakh
  • Total after 12 days: ₹17.75 crore
  • Budget: ₹40 crore

Despite a powerful subject based on the Shah Bano case, the movie has failed to connect with audiences at a level required for commercial success.

A Tough Comparison for Ajay Devgn

Compared to Ajay Devgn’s recent releases, De De Pyaar De 2 is underperforming:

  • Raid 2: ₹78.75 crore in 5 days
  • Drishyam 2: ₹86.49 crore in 5 days
  • Shaitaan: ₹67.75 crore in 5 days

Currently, the sequel is only ahead of Son of Sardaar 2, which earned ₹29.85 crore in five days.

Upcoming Big Releases to Intensify Competition

The next few weeks are set to be challenging as multiple major films hit theatres:

  • 120 Bahadur – releasing this Friday
  • Masti 4
  • Tere Ishq Mein
  • Dhurandhar (Ranveer Singh’s high-octane action drama)

With such strong titles lined up, the box office pressure is expected to rise sharply. It now remains to be seen whether De De Pyaar De 2 can hold its ground and improve its trajectory.
