“Live and Let Live”: Sara Arjun Breaks Silence on 20-Year Age Gap With Ranveer Singh in Dhurandhar

Actress Sara Arjun has finally addressed the debate surrounding the 20-year age difference between her and co-star Ranveer Singh in director Aditya Dhar’s blockbuster film Dhurandhar. The issue had sparked widespread discussion on social media after the film’s teaser release. However, Sara has made it clear that the criticism did not affect her.

Speaking to NDTV after the film’s successful theatrical run, Sara said she was largely unaware of the online backlash before the release, as she stays away from social media. “All the noise is mostly on social media, isn’t it? And I’m not very active there. I didn’t really take part in it,” she said.

The actress added that she believes everyone is entitled to their own opinion. “I strongly believe in ‘live and let live’. Those are their views, and they don’t influence my thoughts. I knew the story well, and I knew why the age difference was justified within the narrative,” she explained.

Sara further revealed that she consciously keeps herself distanced from online chatter. She credits her parents for helping her focus on positive things and shielding her from unnecessary negativity. “I am still very minimally active on social media. At the time before the film’s release, I hardly checked anything related to it,” she said.

Having studied at a boarding school where the use of gadgets was restricted, Sara said she never developed a strong habit of social media usage. Even now, she prefers to use it only when necessary—either to share something important or to post about work. For entertainment and relaxation, she chooses travel and outdoor activities, adding that she finds it difficult to sit idle in one place.

In Dhurandhar, released in theatres on December 5, 2025, Sara Arjun plays Yalina Jamali, the daughter of Pakistani politician Jameel Jamali (played by Rakesh Bedi). Ranveer Singh’s character strategically entangles Yalina in a web of love as part of a larger conspiracy, eventually leading to their marriage in the film.

Despite the early controversy, Dhurandhar has emerged as a major box-office success, with Sara Arjun’s performance receiving appreciation for its depth and maturity.
