A legal dispute has emerged just days before the release of Shahid Kapoor and Tripti Dimri-starrer O Romeo. Sanober Shaikh, daughter of notorious gangster Hussain Ustra, has filed a petition in a Mumbai civil court seeking a ban on the film’s screening.
Case Filed Against Film Makers
Sanober claims that O Romeo is an unauthorized portrayal of her late father and depicts him in a misleading manner. The petition names film producer Sajid Nadiadwala, director Vishal Bhardwaj, and journalist-author Hussain Zaidi as respondents. The court is scheduled to hear the matter on 6 February.
Hussain Shaikh, popularly known as Hussain Ustra, is portrayed in the film by Shahid Kapoor. The movie is based on Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai and is slated for release in theaters on 13 February.
New Song Release Amid Controversy
On Monday, the makers released a new track from the film titled “Ishq Ka Fever”, sung by Arijit Singh. This comes shortly after the singer announced his retirement from playback singing, making the release a special treat for his fans. The song’s music is composed by Vishal Bhardwaj, with lyrics by Gulzar, and opens with a powerful line by Farida Jalal, gradually transitioning into a melodious romantic tune. Shahid Kapoor and Tripti Dimri’s on-screen chemistry adds emotional depth to the track.
Perfect Song for Valentine’s Week
Ishq Ka Fever, available on T-Series’ official YouTube channel, has been widely appreciated for its gradual buildup of romance, making it an ideal release for Valentine’s Week.
Star-Studded Cast and Shahid’s Role
Besides Shahid Kapoor and Tripti Dimri, the film features prominent actors such as Avinash Tiwari, Nana Patekar, Tamanna Bhatia, and Farida Jalal. Shahid portrays gangster Hussain Ustra, while Tripti plays Sapna, also known as Sapna Didi. Another recent song from the film, “Hum To Tere Hi Liye”, showcases the romantic storyline between Sapna and Ustra.
Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, the film is scheduled to hit theaters on 13 February, aligning with Valentine’s Week.
